Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) recently trained over 1,800 youths in entrepreneurship and career skills as part of their #YouthEmpowered programme, which aims to help one million young people across 28 countries by 2025.
NBC’s #YouthEmpowered initiative demonstrates its commitment to empowering young people in Nigeria by providing them with the skills they need to make a positive impact on society.
NBC’s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Specialist, Olukemi Ogunsakin, stressed the importance of developing young people’s professional and entrepreneurial skills so they can contribute to society and help build a better Nigeria. NBC is committed to reaching other communities in Nigeria, starting with Lagos State University in early 2024.
Adedoyin Shittu, Programme Officer at Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation praised the partnership with NBC for helping young people overcome challenges and create a brighter future through shared values and collective action.
The Dean of Students’ Affairs at Yaba College of Technology, Mr. Alaba Olalekan, thanked NBC for choosing the college as the venue for the training. He recognised the importance of entrepreneurship and career training in empowering students on their professional journeys.
#YouthEmpowered is an initiative by Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company that has already helped over 41,734 young people across ten cities and nine campuses since it began in 2017.
The programme has helped establish numerous start-ups, contributing to Nigeria’s blue, green, and digital economy while transforming individual lives and communities.
